Organic rat repellents can also be used for effective elimination of rats. This method makes use of minute tablets or pellets that emit smells of rat predators and hence drive the rats away. These can be sprinkled throughout the house, backyard, garage or any other place visited by rats.
Moth balls that give out a strong odour can also be used and can drive the rats away from your house. They are extremely efficacious if kept in remote and dark nooks of the residence, which are likely to be inhabited by the rats.
Using mechanical traps, often known as wooden snap traps, is a way of rat elimination that is still quite well known. A glue board can also be used to trap and kill rats. A glue board can be made quite easily by taking a cardboard or wooden plank and putting a lot of glue on it. The board can then be placed at specific places after putting some food crumbs to draw the rats. When a rat scuttles across the board for the bait, it gets stuck and later dies from either starvation or suffocation.
